Making a Scene - AVATAR

Here's a great feature on some of the work we'd done on Avatar. Lots of our environments in this piece.

Its been a while since my last post. Ive been down in New Zealand working on Avatar for the past year. This is an interesting featurette on the film's making and you can find 3 or 4 mountain environments I've done scattered around the 3:40 to 3:58 mark.

Took a bit of a road trip this weekend up around the pacific coast toward Big Sur. Shot a lot of pictures and did this hour long gouache sketch of the coast near Cambria.

It looks like its been a year to the day since my last posting. Time flies. Here are a couple of sketches that I've done since last post. I'll be posting some more up soon.












A short gouache sketch overlooking the Santa Monica mountains on a rare overcast day.

This was a quick drawing of half dome while at Yosemite this past November. It was intended to be a watercolor sketch but the sun was dropping below the mountains before I could get set up so I instead finished it as a pencil sketch.
