I found a moment this weekend and made this quick sketch of the Peninsula from the pier at Evans Bay Marina.

Evans Bay at Sunset

I finally got back out painting after many weeks of busy work.
Went up Maupuia for an hour to catch a sunset.  A bit sloppy but I was happy with the colors in general considering I couldn't see much in the dark.

the Sea Lion

I did this quick sketch down on the Wellington waterfront of one of the boats that seems to be permanently docked there. There are a lot of interesting structures to paint down there, but also quite a bit of foot traffic to contend with.  This was done with watercolour pencil and brush and I spent about 30 minutes.

Scorching Bay

Scorching Bay, just as the sun was going down and the last light was coming over the hills to catch the rocks on the coast.  Great spot, and Great lunch too.

Roseneath

Here's a Gouache and Watercolour sketch from this weekend of Roseneath from up Maupuia..
Lots of wind kicked in near the end of this one and I nearly lost my gear down the slope.

  

Shelly Bay

And another bay from the Miramar Peninsula.  This one is also back from 2012.  I've been going through and posting these older sketches each time I finish a new one. I should catch up to 2013 work soon enough. 

Worser Bay

I've been doing these toned sketches using watercolour pencil and a waterbrush for value washes.  It's a bit faster than using color and more convenient for doing these quick studies. 

Also, I brought my daughter along for this one.  She was beside me drawing but found the landscape uninspiring.
